Question: What is the proper fuel mixture?
|
Answer: For temperatures below 70 degrees,
mix one pint of finest grade SAE 40 non-detergent engine oil with each gallon of gasoline used during the first 50 hours
of operation of a new or rebuilt engine. Reduce oil to 1/2 pint per gallon after the first 50 hours of operation. When operating
under extremely higher temperatures an SAE 50 non-detergent engine oil is recommended. -- Frazer Farm

Question: What type of oil should be used when mixing fuel?
|
Answer: Only the highest grade of straight
mineral engine oils should be used. The additives used in detergent or heavy duty types of oils may actually turn into a hard
varnish-like substance when drawn into the combustion chamber of a two-cycle engine. This substance will damage the internal
parts of the engine by causing pistions to seize and score the cylinder walls and bearings to seize in the connecting rod and
on the crankshaft. We do not recommend the use of detergent or inhibited type oils. Many of the two-cycle oils as offered for
chain saws, snowmobiles, etc. do have additives or ingredients that would be harmful to the Rototiller engine so we just cannot
approve or disapprove any of which we do not have knowledge. To be safe call any airport and ask for Aero Shell 80 -OR- "Aircraft Piston Engine
Break-In oil". Make sure it is the "straight mineral" type. -- Frazer Farm
